Review: Getting to Yes By Roger Fisher and William Ury

This is a quick read with some really good insights into negotiating that isn’t focused on tricks or manipulative tactics.

It emphasizes the need to focus on identifying the motivations and interests of everyone at the table before working towards agreement. Humanizing the person you are negotiating with and clearly stating desired outcomes seem like obvious things but often run counter to hope brings negotiations run. It’s hard to get set from positional negotiating but that is what this book of is all about.

A good read even if some of the examples haven’t aged incredibly well.
